"Where sin abounds, grace even more"

Well, it's been a week or so since I have posted anything but it is not because I have not wanted to. If you have been on the blog lately you may have noticed Remy and Berny having some intense discussions. I would like everyone to know how blessed I have been by their conversation. Either way, anything I would write would pale in comparison so thank you guys again! This has been my desire for this blog, that people would be willing to engage in theology and doctrine. Please, do not misunderstand what I am saying. I am aware that there are people that have a sincere and heartfelt interest in theology and doctrine. But many times I have seen this to be the exception and not the rule. May we be people that are passionate for God's glory! It is for His glory and renown that ought to get us out of bed and say as David Puente once shared with me, "Here we are Jesus, reporting for duty".

Now that I have said all that, the reason why I am writing this post is because yesterday I came across an article written by Norma McCorvey. If you would like to read it you may do so here. For those of you who do not know who Norma McCorvey is, she was the plaintiff in the famous Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade. Yes, that's right. The reason this article interests me is because I am a U.S. History teacher and this is an issue that always comes up. I figured I would read it and may I add that I was absolutely blown away by God's mercy and grace.

For those of you that know me, I am constantly quoting Ravi Zacharias. He is an amazing man of God. The Lord has used him to stir, challenge, and stretch my mind. Berny recently did a review on his book called, Walking from East to West which I encourage you to read here. The interesting thing is that Ravi once mentioned "Apologetics is the seasoning and the Gospel is the main course; too much seasoning can make the main course insipid". That has stuck with me ever since I heard it and when I read this article I was able to understand the truth of what Ravi was saying.

In the article, McCorvey begins by expressing how passionate she was for legalizing abortion. She wrote,

"I could out-cuss the most crass of men and women; I could out-drink many of the Dallas taverns' regulars; and I was known for my hot temper. When pro-lifers called me a murderer, I called them worse. When people held up signs of aborted fetuses, I spit in their face....This is the only thing I live for. I live, eat, breathe, think everything about abortion."

What amazes me is how the Lord used a real estate agent to work up a deal where Operation Rescue (O.R.)was able to literally move next door to the abortion clinic where Norma worked. It was through O.R. that she met Emily. Emily is a 7 year old girl whose mother works for the O.R. Emily would go into the abortion clinic and talk to Norma quite regularly. Norma always had difficulty relating to children, but Emily was able to accomplish something Norma's own children weren't able to accomplish. Emily would frequently give Norma hugs and simply talk to her. One day Norma tells Emily how she likes kids and wouldn't let anyone hurt little kids. Emily responded, "Then why do you let them kill the babies at the clinic?" As I read this I couldn't help but praise Jesus! To know that there were many other Christians trying to win Norma McCorvey by using "compelling apologetics" as she says and yet it was a 7-year-old girl named Emily that went straight for the heart. She also mentions how she was walking with Ronda and her daughter Emily when she noticed Ronda's bumper sticker that read "Abortion Stops a Beating Heart."

"All the sudden, I saw Emily's heart in that sticker, and it just about destroyed me when I realized that 'my law' (as I once fondly referred to Roe v. Wade) had almost snuffed out young Emily's life. "

Norma continued sharing of how each event on her journey to the Cross opened her eyes to not only the horror of abortion but also the wickedness of her own heart. She ends the article with the following:

"My conversion is one for the ages. The timing was precise-O.R., was next door to my clinic for less than a year...but it wasn't until I had a regenerated heart that the truth of what abortion does could find a place in my intellect. Once that truth took hold, there was no turning back."

I can't help but thank our Lord and Savior that His mercies are new everyday and that where sin abounds grace even more (Rom. 5:20-21). God bless!

Wow, I was moved by that. Just to hear how beautifully loving and lovingly persistent God is with us. Thank You Jesus for loving us so much. Thank You for making a way. I'm so grateful to You.

It's so funny to see how we can quickly label people based on their appearance and initial impression. How Norma immediately labeled Flip. Sometimes I treat people that way, kind of like I'm watching TV. It only takes me two seconds watching a TV show and immediately I know who's the smart guy, who's the cool guy, who's the dumb guy. And from that initial impression I know that they will always act within those roles. They have no depth to them. I don't know if it's because of TV, but I know that I do that in real life. Yet, people carry so many feelings, memories, emotions, relationships, hardships, that have shaped who they are. They are three dimensional.

And Emily's faith was so poignant. Praise the Lord for Emily. I wonder how He's using her now. May He keep her and bless her and comfort her and strengthen her in Jesus' Name.

I was able to share this story with my Physics class. I think they really enjoyed it.

Praise be to the Lord.

thank you for posting Freddy.
